Archaeological monitoring of the rehabilitation of O and P Streets NW was conducted in Washington, D.C. within the bounds of the Georgetown National Historic Landmark District (NHL). The project area is composed of an urban, largely residential neighborhood constructed between the early 19th century and the recent past.

Monitoring was conducted during excavation associated with infrastructure rehabilitation and replacement operations for water and sewer mains, electrical streetlight, road surface and sidewalk replacement and improvement.

Fieldwork sought to identify and record archaeological resources within the project area and to provide recommendations to mitigate potential impacts to buried components of the NHL resulting from the street rehabilitation project.

As a result, a single new archaeological site designates the Public Ways within the O and P Streets Rehabilitation Area (51NW237) within the NHL.
