The historic district is roughly 226 acres, including both land and water features, and contains a total of 38 contributing buildings, sites, structures, and objects. There are an additional 8 buildings, sites, or structures that are considered non-contributing elements of the shipyard historic district. This historic district is eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places, both for its role in local, regional, national, and world history (Criteria A) and for its distinctive characteristics embodied by its design, function, and use as an industrial shipyard (Criteria C).
