Phase II and Phase III excavations were conducted at the site, located in Howard County, Maryland, within the corridor or the proposed sewer interceptor. It was determined that the site had the potential to provide significant data regarding the Woodland Period in central Maryland. The site is situated on the Fall Line, the division between two physiographic provinces that have characteristic site types. In order to better understand activities at the site, all known sites within the Little Patuxent watershed were examined for similarities, as were other sites along the Fall Line that were excavated at the Phase II or Phase III level.
