This survey was conducted in order to located, analyze, and interpret the spatial patterning of prehistoric activity within the watershed, located within the New River Gorge National River (NERI), Fayette County, West Virginia. The project was conducted under contract with the National Park Service to examine correlations between various environmental variables and archaeological site locations. Sixteen archaeological sites were identified in the upland survey area, including 14 open terrestrial sites and two rock shelters.
